Last night we went to our daughter’s Christmas band concert at Camas High School. It was simply stunning from start to finish. The band program, and its director, is unbelievably phenomenal.
At the end of the night the band fanned out into the audience and did two a capella peices, Dona Nobis Pacem and Silent Night.
Now I am an avowed Christmas music nut and I own over 800 versions of Silent Night. But I can say without risk of hyperbole that this was the most gorgeously moving version I have ever heard in my life. I’m so proud and grateful that my daughter was part of this.
I found a video of Silent Night on YouTube. Please watch and listen. And if somebody posts Dona Nobis Pacem I’ll share that as well.
I have to also note that this is not the school choir. It’s the band. These kids are not selected for their voices and, aside from preparing for this performance, don’t practice singing.
