Here it is, 2013. This season will mark the 10th year that FaLaLaLaLa has been celebrating classic (and some new…) Christmas music.
There have been plenty of changes in the years since the image above introduced the internet to what would be FaLaLaLaLa (the “10 years” replacing the original “Coming Soon”). The site started mostly as a forum, then a blog, then a blog and forum, then a Tumblr, and now back to a blog. The internet has changed a lot in that time, as has the world in which it works. But there’s still so much music to help us celebrate the holidays.
The focus on FaLaLaLaLa has shifted from sharing old and out-of-print vinyl records to helping you find where you can find that music for sale, download or streaming. More and more classic albums are finding release. But as in the old days, each re-release often means a change of title and cover art that can make it hard to figure out what’s what. My hope is that FaLaLaLaLa can help to lessen that confusion (the forums, where lots of Christmas music experts and aficionados hang out, is a good place to ask questions…).
I have some fun ideas about how to celebrate our 10th Christmas together that I hope you’ll enjoy. I’m not sure what this year’s ADVENTure in Carols will look like, but I hope to bring you some undiscovered gems.
Take a look around the renewed site and let me know what you think.
And let’s make this year the merriest ever!
